Dispersions, i.e. solids
in liquid, are used when flowability of solids is desired. This type of formulation permit high concentration of active drug. A key problem in dispersions is crystal size growth. By reduction of surface energy between crystal and continuous phase (often water), the probability of crystal growth is decreased. An image showing a dispersion can be found at the page Image analysis / Microscopy. |
